Protein Family Database Software
by Michael J. Buck
ProtFamDB is a user friendly database program which creates a local ACCESS database containing results from blast and batch entrez queries. The program helps organize and store sequence data which can be analyzed by external programs. The program implements a unique "brute force" BLASTP [1] approach for identifying new members of a protein family. The program supports several output/input formats to allow functionality with several phylogentic program packages.
ProtFamDB Beta 1 was written in JAVA using the ACCESS database driver.
